JEE Main 2023 Chemistry question on Coordination Compounds

Correct statement is:
  1. A.
An average human being consumes more food than air
  2. B.
An average human being consumes equal amount of food and air
  3. C.
An average human being consumes 100 times more air than food
  4. D.
An average human being consumes nearly 15 times more air than food
Show answer and solution

Correct option: D

Solution

A typical human consumes about 500g–1kg of food and about 2–3 kg of water per day (total ~2–3 kg of food/water), while breathing in roughly 15 kg of air per day (inhaling ~15 breaths/min × 0.5 L/breath × 1440 min × 1.2 kg/m³ ≈ 12–15 kg). The ratio of air to food intake is therefore approximately 15:1, making option 4 correct.
