Solution
For a 4-digit number strictly between 5000 and 10000, the first digit must be 5, 7, or 9 (3 choices). The remaining 3 digits are chosen from the leftover 4 digits in 4×3×2 = 24 ways (no repetition). Total = 3 × 24 = 72.
