JEE Main 2023 Physics question on Kinematics
The maximum vertical height to which a man can throw a ball is 136 m. The maximum horizontal distance upto which he can throw the same ball is:
- A.
192 m
- B.
272 m
- C.
136 m
- D.
68 m
Show answer and solution
Correct option: B
Solution
When throwing for maximum height, all initial velocity is directed vertically: u² = 2g×136, giving u² = 2×10×136 = 2720 m²/s².
For maximum horizontal range, the ball is launched at 45°, giving R = u²/g = 2720/10 = 272 m.
