JEE Main 2023 Physics question on Ray Optics

The light rays from an object have been reflected towards an observer from a standard flat mirror, the image observed by the observer are:-

A. Real
B. Erect
C. Smaller in size then object
D. Laterally inverted

Select the *most appropriate* answer from the options given below:
  1. A.
    A, C, and D Only
  2. B.
    A and D Only
  3. C.
    B and D Only
  4. D.
    B and C Only
Show answer and solution

Correct option: C

Solution

A flat mirror forms a virtual, erect image of the same size as the object, placed as far behind the mirror as the object is in front. The image is also laterally inverted (left-right reversed). So among the listed options, B (erect) and D (laterally inverted) are both correct properties, making option 3 the right choice.
