JEE Main 2023 Physics question on Kinematics

The distance travelled by a particle is related to time t as x=4t2x = 4t^2. The velocity of the particle at t=5st = 5s is:-
  1. A.
    20 ms−120 \text{ ms}^{-1}
  2. B.
    40 ms−140 \text{ ms}^{-1}
  3. C.
    8 ms−18 \text{ ms}^{-1}
  4. D.
    25 ms−125 \text{ ms}^{-1}
Show answer and solution

Correct option: B

Solution

Differentiating x = 4t² with respect to time gives velocity v = dx/dt = 8t. At t = 5s, v = 8 × 5 = 40 ms⁻¹.
