JEE Main 2023 Physics question on Kinetic Theory of Gases A bicycle tyre is filled with air having pressure of 270 kPa at 27°C. The approximate pressure of the air in the tyre when the temperature increases to 36°C is
A. 278 kPa
B. 360 kPa
C. 262 kPa
D. 270 kPa
Show answer and solution Correct option: A
Solution
Using Gay-Lussac's Law at constant volume: P₁/T₁ = P₂/T₂. T₁ = 300 K, T₂ = 309 K, P₁ = 270 kPa. P₂ = 270 × (309/300) = 270 × 1.03 = 278.1 kPa ≈ 278 kPa.
